Philipp Laux

Philipp Laux ( born January 25, 1973 in Rastatt ) is a former German football goalkeeper. He has worked as a sports psychologist at RB Leipzig since July 2012.

Career as a player

After he already was goalkeeper of VfB Gaggenau at age 18, joined Philipp Laux 1993 as a reserve goalkeeper for Borussia Dortmund. Here he did not play and moved a year later to the Regionalliga Süd to SSV Ulm 1846., Where he soon became a regular goalkeeper, standing at the sparrows after the climb to the 2nd Bundesliga 1998 target. He denied all second-division games and celebrated at the end of the season - surprising - direct walkover in the Bundesliga. With 34 league games in the season 1999/2000 he is the player of the club with the most stakes in the German top flight. As team captain, he was also one of the leading players. In his six years at Ulm Laux missed only one league game.

After re- direct descent Laux left the club and signed up again to for Borussia Dortmund. This time was the substitute eight times used. Since he did not want to be permanent second goalkeeper, he moved in 2002 to Eintracht Braunschweig, who had ascended from the Regionalliga Nord in the 2nd Bundesliga. Because of a cartilage damage in his left knee, however Laux had to end his career.

Career after active professional sports

After the retirement he began at the University of Mannheim in psychology, which he completed in 2008 with the diploma. He also began training coaches.

Since 2004 he worked for the DFB. He served as goalkeeper coach several German youth national teams at the respective qualifying matches for the European Championship or World Cup and 2005 briefly the German women's national team.

In summer 2006, he joined the coaching staff of his former coach Ralf Rangnick and was goalkeeping coach at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. For the season 2008/ 09 he moved to Bayern Munich, where he worked as a sports psychologist in the coaching staff of Jürgen Klinsmann, Jupp Heynckes, Louis van Gaal Andries Jonker and and again in the same function under Jupp Heynckes. In July 2012, he joined the employer and is now a sports psychologist at RB Leipzig under contract.

Family

Laux is married and has a son.
