Phineas is a Hellenized form of the biblical name Pinchas. He is not related to the name Phineus, the carry several figures in Greek mythology.

Because of the killing of an interfaith pair by the high priest Pinchas the name Phineas was admitted to the United States by representatives of White Supremacy and one of its mark.
