Xwla (also: Phla, Gbe, Western Xwla, Xwla - Gbe ) is the language of the same people HWLA.

Xwla belongs to the Kwa languages.

The HWLA live according to a source only in Togo with a number of speakers of 24,000, according to another source in Benin. Overall, one starts from approximately 71,000 speakers of Xwla. In Benin Xwla talking about 50,000 people (2002), in Togo 21.000.

In Togo, the Xwla - speakers live in the Southeastern part of the country on the Mono River.
