History

1972 archaeologists explored the old town of Phrom Phiram and found the old city walls, foundations of stupas and celadon ceramics from Sukhothai. All this pointed to the fact that here an old connection path from Sukhothai to Bang Yang had existed in the East.

King Borommatrailokanat went here with his troops after Phichai to lead the war against King Tilokarat of Lan Na.

Amphoe Phrom Phiram was formed in 1895. In 1950 moved to the county seat on the right bank of Maenam Nan ( Nan River ) in Ban Yan Khat. After the Northern Line of the Thai railway had been built, the district administration came to Ban Krap Phuang (now Ban Phrom Phiram ), about 500 meters from the station Phrom Phiram away. The present building dates from the year 1976.
