Physical body
In physics, a body that has mass and takes up space. In classical physics applies to solid bodies: Where a body is, no one else can be. Gaseous and liquid bodies can interpenetrate, where pressure and / or volume increase. Bodies are made of fabrics.
Theoretical physics has three basic and cumulative observation of the body:
- Point mass: No (or negligible in this particular case ) spatial extent, well-defined mass. Also referred to as a ground point. This conceptual model is easy to handle and perfectly adequate in many cases.
- Conglomeration of point masses ( usually rigid ) connection of point masses to an extensive body
- Continuous distribution: the transition from the sum of point masses to the space integral of the density.
Within the framework of classical mechanics (extended ) body can perform translational, rotational and vibrational motions.
