Pi Chun-deuk
Pi Chun- deuk (* May 29, 1910 in Seoul, † 25 May 2007) is a South Korean poet and essayist.
Life
Pi Chun- deuk, also under the name Kǔma / Geuma ( 금아 ) is known, was born on 29 May 1910 in Seoul. He completed his studies in 1937 at the University of Shanghai from the English Literature. After graduating, he returned to Korea and began English poetry at the University Kyongsong ( Keijo Imperial University ) to teach, which became the Seoul National University later.
In 1930, his poem was published Short lyrical piece ( 서정 소곡 ) in the newspaper Shindong -A. 1931 followed Little Piece ( 소곡 ) and 1932 My love is gone ( 가신 님 ). Pi Chun- deuks Posie is characterized in that it excludes all thoughts and ideas and only praises the beauty of pure emotions. In addition to poetry, he has also published essays in which he represents the feelings of everyday life style so that the essays can be read like prose poems. Therefore are his essays on the representative works of lyrical essays. His essay Karma ( 인연 ) is one of his most famous works and is reprinted in school text books. Pi Chun- deuk are in the memories of a Japanese girl again who he had met during his stay in Japan.
In 1947 the author collected all his lyrical works on nature and a childlike heart and published them in the tape collection of lyrical poetry ( 서정시 집 ). In 1969 he published another collection of poems Coral and Pearl ( 산호 와 진주 ). In addition to lyrical works, Pi Chun- deuk also wrote theoretical things. Among other things, the essay simply titled essay ( 수필 ), in which he dealt with the nature and the characteristics of an essay. In other essays, he sat down with works of English literature apart ( Shakespeare's sonnets, Elizabethan poetesses ).
He died on 25 May 2007.
