Pia Gyger

Pia Gyger ( born November 2, 1940 in Schaffhausen ) is a Swiss remedial teacher, psychologist and Zen Master. She is co-founder of the Lassalle-Institut within the Lassalle -Haus in Bad Schönbrunn.

Training

Pia Gyger went through the elementary schools in Abtwil SG 1972-1976 and studied Special Education and Psychology, Special Education Seminar and Institute of Applied Psychology in Zurich HAP. In the years 1976-1999 she completed a part-time Zen training with Hugo Makibi Enomiya - Lassalle and Yamada Kôun Rōshi in Kamakura, and Robert Aitken Rōshi in Hawaii. Aitken Rōshi gave her the first Dharma transmission. She was also included in the Zen Peacemaker Order for cooperation in international peace projects.

Activities

1969 Pia Gyger entered the St. Catherine's work, Basel and founded in 1976 by ​​order of the Federal Department of Justice and Police of the therapy Sonnenblick in chestnut tree for difficult teenagers, which she ran until 1982. Afterwards, she was director of the Central St. Catherine's work. In 1986, she founded a project to meet the world's religions. In 1989, she initiated in a slum on the outskirts of Manila, a school for spiritual and political awareness of young people. Back in Switzerland, she founded in 1995 together with Brantschen the Lassalle -Institut, which they conducted together until 2003, and at which she teaches since then. Brantschen and they founded 2003, Lassalle Zen line and the Kontemplationsschule Via Integralis. Then developed Brantschen and the project Jerusalem - Open City for Learning peace in the world. This project at the Lassalle- Institute has been accredited by the United Nations.
