Pia Sundhage

Pia Sundhage ( born February 13, 1960 in Ulricehamn ) is a Swedish football coach and former football player. She was a trainer ( Head Coach) of the women's national team of the United States. She played 146 times for the Swedish national team, scoring 71 goals. Both were long -time record levels, but have now surpassed. She took 1991 and 1995, with Sweden at the FIFA World Cups in 1996 and the first Olympic football tournament of the women participate.

Sundhage played in the course of her career for Ulricehamns IFK, Falköpings KIK, Jitex BK, Östers Växjö, Lazio and Hammarby IF. In 1984 she became European Champion with the Swedish selection. At the national level, she won four times each, the Swedish Championship and the Swedish Cup. Your active career, she finished in 1996.

The first significant success they could achieve with the United States at the Olympic Games in Beijing, as she led the U.S. team to a gold medal. In 2012 she was able to repeat the success at the Olympic Games in London, but announced on 1 September 2012 that they would return to their contract expires in November in their native Sweden. She supervised the U.S. team in 107 games, of which won 91 and lost only 10.
