The Pico airport, in Portuguese " Aeroporto da ilha do Pico ", is a regional airport on the Portuguese Azores Pico Island. TAP Portugal and SATA Air Açores flying since 2005 when in service Ponta Delgada, Terceira and Lisbon.

History

The former airfield was opened in 1982, completely renovated in 2004, the start and runway 09/ 27 was paved and extended to 1,760 meters and a new terminal and a new control tower and fire station built. The National Institute of Civil Aviation ( INAC ) had on 30 December 2004 granted the authorization airport, but it was only months later, on 21 April 2005, the first commercial flight by TAP Portugal took place on the day. The first night flights under visual flight conditions found after further expansion of firing 2009. On 28 June 2010, the new cargo warehouse was inaugurated. The installation of an ILS approach system was also carried out in 2011.

SATA Aeródromos was founded in 2005 as a subsidiary of Grupo SATA, and is the operator of the airfields in the Azores.
