Piconet

A piconet is a personal area network of devices that have connected via Bluetooth. The name comes from the words " pico " (Romanesque: small) and "network" together. A piconet is formed when two or more devices such as a laptop and a mobile phone will connect to. Between these devices is a point- to-point and point-to- multi-point connection is possible, in a device acting as "master" and the other as "slave". The devices are identified by the AMA ( Active Member Address, 3 bits). Besides participating devices in a passive mode can be either "Standby " or " Parked " and ( PassiveMemberAddress, 8 bits) are identified by the PMA. Thanks to the 8 -bit address can be up to 200 (theoretical = 28 256) linger Bluetooth devices in standby mode. When combining several piconets is called a scatternet.
