Picún Leufú Department

The department Picún Leufú lies to the east of the province of Neuquen in southern Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered on the northeast by the Departamento Confluencia, on the east by the province of Río Negro, on the southwest by the Departamento Collón Curá, on the west by the Departamento Catán Lil and to the northwest by the Departamento Zapala.

The capital of the department Picún Leufú is the same Picún Leufú.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population grew from 4,272 inhabitants (2001) to 5,751 inhabitants in 2005.
