Pied Piper's House

The Pied Piper's House is one of the most famous houses in the old town of Hamelin. It is one of the most magnificent buildings of the Weser Renaissance Represents the building is located at the junction of the road from Bunge lots of Easter Road.

Description

The Pied Piper's House was built in 1602 / 03 by the architects Johann Eberhard Hundertossen or Wilkening for Hamelin councilors Hermann Arendes. Since 1917 it is owned by the city of Hameln, now a restaurant is operated in Rattenfängerhaus. The façade has been preserved in the original.

The house is called the Pied Piper's House since about 1900. His name is based on an inscription in one of the wooden beams on the Bunge lots street -facing side of the house. This is reported in the wake of the Pied Piper on June 26, 1284 the departing of the children of Hamelin:

According to legend, the Pied Piper led the children out through the Bunge lots road out of town. Then, playing music in the street was prohibited on all time ( bungelos = trommellos without drum).
