Piedmont Blues

The Piedmont blues is a rural blues style, which is limited ( roughly from Richmond, Virginia to Atlanta, Georgia) geographically not only on the hilly coastal region Piedmont, but which is located on the east coast of the USA between Maryland and Georgia. Piedmont blues musicians come from this area but also from Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida.

This blues style is characterized by a particular finger technique on the guitar, in a played with the thumb bass line supports played on the higher strings melody. Most played as a duo, most often heard along with the guitar, the piano, the violin, the banjo or the harmonica as a second instrument to do so.

In contrast to the Deep Blues (or Delta Blues ) from the southern Piedmont blues is usually cheerful, the lyrics often stuck full of funny twists or act of "light " everyday topics.
