Pielnia

Pielnia ( German Piella ukr., Pel'na ) is a village in the municipality Zarszyn, powiat Sanocki, Poland. It lies in a forested area (forest Retkow ) in the far southeast of Poland at the Pielnica away in a hilly area on the highway five kilometers of Bukowsko towards Długie and Pisarowce. The village is located in 386 m height above sea level and has 870 inhabitants (as of 2002).

Pielnia was first mentioned in 1429 under this name, which goes back to the German personal name Pella: de Pella in 1429, Pella Inferior 1434 Pyella 1450, Pella 1523 Pielli 1561 and Pielle 1653 The place was a settlement of the so-called forest Germans..
