Pier 21

Pier 21 is a museum and a historic site in Canada. It is located in Halifax and served from 1928 to 1971 as a passenger terminal for transatlantic liners. During this time, it was the gateway to Canada, and during the Second World War, the drop point for Canadian troops for more than a million immigrants and refugees. It was also referred to as Canada's Ellis Iceland. In 1999 the building was reopened as a museum and included in the list of national historic sites of Canada ( National Historic Site of Canada).
