Pierre-De Saurel Regional County Municipality

Pierre- De Saurel ( before January 1, 2009 Le Bas- Richelieu) is a regional county municipality (French municipalité régional du comté, MRC ) in the Canadian province of Quebec.

It is located in the Montérégie administrative region and consists of twelve subordinate administrative units (Three cities, three towns, a village and five Sprengel ). The MRC was founded on 1 January 1982 as MRC Le Bas- Richelieu. The main town is Sorel - Tracy. On 18 October 2008, the Regional Municipality was renamed to its current name. The population is 49,969 and the area 594.3 km ², representing a population density of 84.1 inhabitants per km ².
