Pierre Lacroix (ice hockey b. 1948)

Pierre Lacroix ( born August 3, 1948 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey official. Since 2006 he is president of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League after he was twelve years as General Manager for the franchise before. His son Eric is a former professional hockey player.

Career

Pierre Lacroix was appointed on 24 May 1994 as General Manager of the Quebec Nordiques of the National Hockey League after he was 21 years as a player agent before. In this post he remained the franchise even after his move to Denver in the State of Colorado, and received its name change to Colorado Avalanche. With the Avalanche, he won in 1996 and 2001 Stanley Cup before he retired following the 2005/ 06 season from the daily business and took over the position as President of the franchises. His position as GM took over François Giguère.

Lacroix was co-founder of the Colorado Avalanche Charity Fund, which from 1995 to 2006 a total of 11 million U.S. dollars made ​​available for charitable purposes in Colorado in his tenure as GM.
