Pierre Vallières

Pierre Vallières ( born February 22, 1938 in Montréal, † 23 December 1998) with Charles Gagnon one of the spiritual fathers of the incurred after the Quiet Revolution of the 1960 Quebec separatist movement FLQ ( Front de libération du Québec ).

He gained an international reputation, among other things, with " Les Blancs d' Amérique Nègres ", a historical documentation with Marxist polemic, solidarity with the discriminated against African- Americans in the United States as a journalist and writer. Pierre Vallières demonstrated with his hunger strike in front of the UN in 1966 against the conditions in Québec. This earned him a member of the FLQ four years in prison. Vallières called for armed struggle to the global uprising of the working class. Soon after the October Crisis in 1971, he returned to Montreal back, declared his resignation to the militant struggle and joined the Parti Québécois.
