Pierre Vaultier

Pierre Vaultier ( born July 24, 1987 in Briançon ) is a French snowboarder.

Career

Valutier began his career at the age of 13 years at the 2001 French Championships in Serre Chevalier. After four years in denied FIS races and drove in the European Cup, he succeeded in his first major international appearance at the Junior World Championships 2005 in Zermatt directly the medal success. In his special discipline snowboard cross, he won the bronze medal. In the same year he made earlier in the season 2005/2006 the plunge into the World Cup, but only in snowboard cross. For the fifth World Cup race, he reached the second place in Whistler.

Then Vaultier was called to the squad of the French team for the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin. There, however, he failed a better position than the 35th place. Nevertheless, he started the next winter with great success in the World Cup, he succeeded in the first World Cup victory. He repeated twice in the 2007/2008 season this success, he also won the individual World Cup Snowboard Cross World Cup and was third. In the 2008/2009 season Valutier won the first World Cup race in snowboard cross and thus led the standings again.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi in February he won the gold medal in snowboard cross.
