Pietrabbondante

Pietrabbondante is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 796 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Isernia in Molise. The community is located about 20.5 kilometers northeast of Isernia. In the northeast of Verrino limits the community.

History

Remains clear that the historic site was a political and cultural center of the Samnites in the 2nd century BC. At this time were built, among other theater systems, presumably because this locality was regarded as a meeting place for Samiten all directions. Unlike many other towns in southern Italy Pietrabbondate was not urbanized by the Romans.
