Pietro Boetto

Pietro Cardinal Boetto SJ ( born May 19, 1871 in Vigone, Province of Turin, Italy, † January 31, 1946 in Genoa) was Archbishop of Genoa.

Life

Pietro Boetto occurred in 1888 in the Society of Jesus. He studied in the diocesan seminary of Giaveno and in various educational institutions of his order the trays philosophy and Catholic theology. The sacrament of Holy Orders he received on 30 July 1901. Upon completion of ongoing studies he worked as a school principal and secretary of the Provincial Order of Turin. From 1916 to 1919 he was Provincial of the Jesuits in the district of Turin. In 1919 to 1921, he toured as a Visitor of Castile and Aragon. From 1921 to 1928 Pietro Boetto General of the Jesuit Order, 1928-1930 Provincial in Rome.

Pope Pius XI. took him on 16 December 1935 as cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Sant'Angelo in Pescheria to the College of Cardinals. In 1938 he appointed him Archbishop of Genoa and raised him while retaining its title Diakonia cardinal priest per hac vice. The bishop ordained by Cardinal Pietro Boetto Gennaro Granito Pignatelli di Belmonte Dean. Pietro Cardinal Boetto participated in the conclave of 1939.

He died on 31 January 1946 in Genoa and was buried in the local San Lorenzo Cathedral.
