Pigbag

Pigbag was a jazz revival group against the backdrop of post-punk, founded in 1980 by Chris Hamlin in Cheltenham.

History

First success had Pigbag the end of 1981 with the single Sunny Day. Their most successful single " Papa 's Got a Brand New Pigbag " took the title reference to " Papa 's Got a Brand New Bag " by James Brown. It reached number 3 in the UK in 1982. Three years later, Paul Hardcastle in an "Electro Funk" took the title as The Silent Underdog version, reaching posterior chart ranks. B- side of this release was once again the Pigbag version. For Paul Oakenfold and Perfecto Allstarz a trance version of the play was in 1995 ( Papa 's Got A Brand New Pigbag ) to a top - 10 hit with the title Reach Up.

Pigbag was able to place a total of four singles from the debut album Dr Heckle and Mr Jive in the charts, which penetrated even into the top 20 in the UK charts. All other publications, however, remained significantly behind this success. After several tours, recordings and several changes in the line-up took place in June 1983 resolution.
