Pigeon Mountain (New Zealand)

Pigeon Mountain ( Māori: Ohuiarangi ) is a 55 m high cinder cone at the Half Moon Bay near Bucklands Beach in Auckland on the North Island of New Zealand. He is a member of Aucklandfeldes. It is used for scientific school trips. The entire north side of the mountain fell victim to a quarry. The mountain was the site of a Pā Māori and some of the terraces are still standing. By students of Pakuranga College skulls and artifacts were excavated in the 1960s.

The mountain is open to the public, he has good views. The north side is fenced because of the almost 30 m deep near-vertical slope.

In the southwest corner, a sports field with changing rooms, has good natural drainage due to the Schlackenuntergundes. In the quarry on the northwest side there is a BMX track and a group home of the Boy Scouts.
