Piippola

Piippola [pi ː p ː ɔlɑ ] is a former municipality in the Finnish countryside Nordoesterbotten. After a 1958 decision of the magazine Suomen Kuvalehti decision Piippola is the geographic center of the country.

The community was founded in 1885 and next to the village church Piippola includes the towns of Lamu, Leskelä and Kangaskylä. Since 1945, a partnership to place Leksand in Sweden.

Worth seeing is next to a monument that marks the country's center, the wooden village church dating from 1770 as well as the local museum, which is housed in a log cabin from the 18th century, the former parish.

At the beginning of 2009, Piippola joined with the municipalities Kestilä, Pulkkila and Rantsila together for new community Siikalatva.
