PIK-15

The PIK -15 hinu was a glider tug and trainer aircraft of the Finnish manufacturer Polyteknikkojen Ilmailukerho.

History and construction

The construction work on the PIK -15 began in 1960. Two years later, work began on the construction of the prototype, which first flew on August 29, 1964. The prototype was followed by six production aircraft. The aircraft was designed by Kai Mellen, Ilkka Lounamaa and Jussi Rinta primarily as a glider tug and secondarily as a training aircraft. It is a fabric used to cover wood construction and is designed as a cantilever low- wing monoplane with enclosed cockpit and solid spur wheel chassis. In the cockpit, teacher and student sit side by side. The aircraft is powered by a Lycoming O -320- A2B 112 kW.

In 2011, six machines were still registered in the Finnish civil aircraft register.
