Pilar Roldán

María del Pilar Roldán Tapia ( born November 18, 1939 in Mexico City) is a former Mexican fencer. She was the first Mexican medal winner at the Olympic Games.

Pilar Roldán fought with the foil. She had her Olympic debut at the Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956. There she was number 6 in singles. At the Pan American Games in 1959 in Chicago Roldán won the gold medal. The following year, she reached the seventh place at the Summer Olympic Games in Rome in 1960. In 1967, she again won gold at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada in 1967. The following year she appeared in 1968 in her hometown in singles and with the team at the Summer Olympics. With the team they reached the seventh place. In individual, she won the silver medal behind Yelena Novikova from the Soviet Union. It was the only fencing medal in Mexico City, which did not go to a European participants. Pilar Roldán also won the first fencing medal at the Olympics for Mexico and was the first Mexican Olympic medalist.
