Pinchas Burstein

Pinchas Burstein, known as Maryan, ( born January 1, 1927 in Nowy Sacz, Lesser Poland, † June 15, 1977 in New York City ) was a Polish painter.

Life

During the Second World War Burstein came with his family to Auschwitz. He was the only survivor of his family. After the liberation, he immigrated to Jerusalem and began studying as a graphic designer. In an accident he lost a leg. 1950 moved to Paris Burstein and studied at the Ecole des Beaux -Arts. In 1962 he settled in New York and became an American citizen. From this time he began his works with the pseudonym Maryan Maryan S. Maryan or sign. Burstein 1977 died in New York of a heart attack. He found his final resting place in the cemetery Montparnasse in Paris.
