Pinchas Steinberg

Pinchas Steinberg ( born December 13, 1945 in New York City ) is an Israeli conductor.

Life

Steinberg studied violin with Joseph Gingold and Jascha Heifetz, later in Berlin in composition with Boris Blacher, among others. In 1974 he made ​​his debut as a conductor at the rostrum of the RIAS Symphony Orchestra. Since then he has worked with many renowned orchestras. From 1985 to 1989 he was music director of the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, 1988-1993 also a regular guest conductor at the Vienna State Opera from 1989 to 1996 chief conductor of the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and from 2002 to 2005 in the same position with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva.

2001 Steinberg made ​​his debut with the Cleveland Orchestra, with whom he has worked regularly since then. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, he has conducted the premiere of Turandot.
