Pino Donaggio

Pino Donaggio (* November 24, 1941 in Burano, Veneto ) is an Italian composer.

Life

Pino Donaggio, whose father and grandfather were also musicians, graduated at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan in violin, after which he studied composition. After graduating, he became director of the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice.

With his compositions, he achieved worldwide fame and became one of the most famous songwriters of Italy. His song Io che non vivo 1965 he interpreted himself as a singer at the Sanremo Festival. The song has sold over 55 million copies and was covered, among others, Elvis Presley and Dusty Springfield under the title You do not have to say you love me.

In 1973 he began his career as a film composer, producer Ugo Mariotti contacted him if he wanted to write the music for his film Do not Look grief. Donaggio accepted the offer and the soundtrack was a success. With the soundtrack to the movie Carrie - Satan ' youngest daughter began a long collaboration with Brian De Palma. With the soundtrack to Carrie established itself Pino Donaggio as a film composer.

Donaggio often regretted that he had maintained his residence in Italy. Many orders from the United States had gone to him thereby lost.
