Pino Palladino
Pino Palladino ( born October 17, 1957 in Cardiff, Wales) is a Welsh bass player of Italian descent.
Career
Pino Palladino began at age 17 with the bass playing. That his models he gives the musician James Jamerson and Jaco Pastorius. The highly sought-after studio musician played since the 1980s, including for Pino Daniele, Gary Numan, Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Elton John, Pete Townshend, Claudio Baglioni, Tears for Fears, Stephan Eicher, John Mayer, Paul Young, Rick Wright and David Gilmour by Pink Floyd, Steve Hackett and once for Queen Paul Rodgers. From 1998 to 2001 he was a member of Robbie McIntosh band. In 2002, he filled in for the departed shortly before the tour start John Entwistle of The Who.
Today he can be seen on the German / French channel arte frequently in the weekly TV address, " One Shot Not " by the French drummer Manu Katché. With Katché he formed a rhythm section, which is represented on many recordings, partly together with guitarist Dominic Miller.
Style and influence
It excites special attention by his outstanding play on the fretless bass ( here especially for Paul Young, Claudio Baglioni, Joan Armatrading and Oleta Adams) and his work in the field of Neo- Soul. For the latter, the album Voodoo by D' Angelo is arguably be described as style icon.
Instruments
In the earlier years, Pino Palladino played primarily a fretless Music Man StingRay bass. When shooting concerts and in recent years he was mainly to see his 61s Fender Precision Bass in Fiesta Red. In addition, Pino including playing another 63er Fender P -Bass, a black Fender Jaguar Bass (Who tour ), a white Moon Larry Graham Signature J -style bass, a Lakland Joe Osborn Signature J -style bass and a '82 Squier Jazz Bass.
In some recordings, such as Give Blood by Pete Townshend, I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down by Paul Young Shouting Stage by Joan Armatrading or he uses a Boss OC-2 Octave -.
