Pioneer Corporation
Pioneer Corporation (Japaneseパイオニア 株式会社, Paeonia Kabushiki - gaisha ) is an internationally known electronics company, headquartered in Japan. The company is listed on the Japanese stock index Nikkei 225.
History
The company was founded as Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho on 1 January 1938 and renamed in 1961 in Pioneer. In 1963 we started with the production of car radios, after they had almost 30 years engaged in the production of loudspeakers. 1972 later they started the basic research on the system disk image. Initial success with the presented in the same year Laserdisc appeared in 1978. 1990 the first CD- based GPS navigation system was developed. In 2002, Pioneer introduced first DVD recorder with hard drive before. 2007 was followed by the presentation of the first Bluray burner on the IDF in China, which cost $ 299 at that time.
Currently, Pioneer produces a variety of products in consumer electronics, car audio and DJ products and PC drives. With the four-channel effect DJM 800 Pioneer presents her one of the most common consoles in the club area.
Initial and sole importer in Germany was the company Melchers in Bremen, who founded the subsidiary Pioneer Melchers. This company was acquired by Pioneer Germany to Dusseldorf and later to Willich, the present headquarters of Pioneer Germany, misplaced.
Pioneer was the end of 2007 a strategic partnership with Sharp to counter the rising cost of developing new products.
On February 6, 2009 announced the Japanese business newspaper Nikkei that Pioneer plan to withdraw from the production of televisions and DVD players. The decision to end the production and distribution of television sets then fell on February 12, 2009 at which the results of the fiscal year have been announced. For the year 2008 was for Pioneer, a loss of around one billion dollars in prospect.
Parts of the know-how and staff from the development and design have been adopted by Panasonic. The factories for the production of panels and for the assembly were gradually decommissioned in 2009, the discontinued products sold until the camps were empty.
