Piotr Åšwierczewski

Piotr Świerczewski ( born April 8, Nowy Sacz in 1972, Poland ) is a former Polish footballer and current coach.

The defensive midfielder began his career in his native city of Nowy Sacz in Sandecja and later in Nowy Sacz Dunajec in the Polish Amateur League. In 1989 he moved to GKS Katowice in the Ekstraklasa. Here he played a total of five seasons and was national player. There began his interest of foreign clubs. So moved Piotr Świerczewski 1993 to France for AS Saint- Étienne and was able to convince here. For the AS Saint- Étienne, SC Bastia and Olympique Marseille he played ten seasons in France ( with a year's interruption at Gamba Osaka in Japan) and this could make a name (278 games / 15 goals in Ligue 1).

In 2003, Piotr Świerczewski to England to Birmingham City. Here, however, he could not gain a foothold and already changed back to winter break in the home to Poland due to injury. Here he played from 2003 for several teams: Lech Poznań, Cracovia Kraków, Korona Kielce, Groclin Grodzisk, Polonia Warszawa and Łódzki KS in the Ekstraklasa and the end of his career with two amateur clubs.

Since 2011 he is also active as a coach. First, in the Polish 2nd league in Znicz Pruszków and currently at Motor Lublin in the 3rd league.

His older brother Marek Świerczewski was also footballer and played for Wisła Kraków, Katowice GKS, SK Sturm Graz, Austria Wien and VfB Admira Wacker Mödling. He also played six times for the Polish national team.
