Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration ( PHMSA ) is a department of the Ministry of Transport of the United States ( Department of Transportation, DOT ) and tasked the regulations for the safe, reliable and environmentally friendly operation of the approximately 3.2 million pounds of Menter pipeline in the United States and to develop daily from about 1 million shipments of hazardous materials by land, sea or air and enforce.
Organization
The PHMSA is composed of two divisions, the Office of Pipeline Safety (OPS ), responsible for the pipelines, and the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety ( OHMS ), are managed in the transportation of hazardous materials. As part of these services, the PHMSA operates a Fusion Center for Hazardous Substances, the Hazardous Materials Fusion Center, HAZMATFC.
