Pippi Longstocking is a Swedish black and white film directed by Gunvall from the year 1949. This is the first screen adaptation of the children's book by Astrid Lindgren.
Directed by Per Gunvall, who also wrote the screenplay. The shooting took place in Stockholm on the island of Djurgården. The main roles were played by Viveca Serlachius ( Pippi ), Tord Garnmark ( Tommy ) and Berit Essler ( Annika ).
Action
Shortly after moving into the Villekulla the girl Pippi Longstocking makes friends with the neighbors' children Tommy and Annika, but has to deal with the thieves Dunder - Karlsson and Blom, who are behind Pippi Goldmünzschatz ago.
The next adventure experienced Pippi in the school they attended only because she wants to try some holiday like Tommy and Annika ( in contrast to the original Pippi is encouraged here is not of the Christmas holidays, but from summer vacation to attend school ).

The film is now rarely shown in comparison to the subsequent films of the books. Lindgren rejected the film because Gunvall of action ( racist among other things) have scenes added that were not consistent.
Film analysis
Pippi is less rebellious and connected compared to the novels and the subsequent films in more scenes of the bourgeoisie, they actually rejects. So she buys such as a piano, to beautify the Villa Sundries.
