Piracanjuba

Piracanjuba is a political commune and small town in the Brazilian state of Goias in the micro-region Meia Ponte.

The community name is of indigenous origin and means " yellow head fish " ( Brycon orbignyanus ). In the Tupi language Pira is for fish, acanga or ACA for head and yuba for yellow, blonde.

  • To the east by Cristianópolis and Santa Cruz de Goiás
  • To the south by Caldas Novas and Morrinhos
  • On the southwest by Mairipotaba
  • On the west by Professor Jamil
  • In the northwest Hidrolândia

The territory drained south into the Paraná Basin. The two largest rivers are the Rio Meia Ponte in the West as a right tributary to the Rio Paranaíba and east of the Rio Piracanjuba as a right tributary to the Itumbiara reservoir.
