Pises Observatory
The Pises Observatory ( Observatoire des Pises ) is an astronomical observatory in France.
It was built for the Astronomical Society of Montpellier ( Société Astronomique de Montpellier) in the Cevennes National Park. The observatory is registered with the IAU under the number 122. There a total of 39 asteroids were discovered between 1997 and 2009.
The asteroid ( 18623 ) Pises was named after the place of its discovery.
Instruments
- A telescope with a mirror diameter of 80 mm
- A Newtonian telescope with a mirror diameter of 210 mm
- A T400 Cassegrain telescope
- A T500 Newtonian telescope ( the latter two are under a dome installed )
