Kiefernkulturrüssler

The Kiefernrüssler ( Pissodes ) are a genus of the family of weevils. Many of the species belonging to this genus are forest pests.

They infest preferred pines.

In all other species of the genus Pissodes of the head ends in a long extension ( trunk ) on the mid-length spring the sensor. Most species lay their eggs in holes that eat away the female beetles where the bark is smooth and not too thick. The larvae chew through the bark toward the root approaches.
