The Pite River (also Piteälv, Pite älv or älv Piteå ) is a North Swedish river, which flows from the Scandinavian Mountains in the Baltic Sea.

The Pite River has a length of 400 km and drains an area of 11,220 km ². It rises on the Norwegian- Swedish border and flows in Piteå in the Gulf of Bothnia. The average discharge at the mouth is 160 m³ / s At its headwaters are several large lakes, such as Tjeggelvas, Vuolvojaure and Labbas, and rapids, such as the Trollforsen and the 2 km long Storforsens at Vidsel. The Pite River is one of the few northern Swedish rivers that are not removed with water power plants.
