The series is similar in its basic features partially Tom and Jerry, a Kinovorfilmserie by William Hanna and Joe Barbera, created by the two artists for MGM before they founded their own studio. The basic conflict " counterproductive cat mouse " is the same. There are differences in the animation: Tom and Jerry were still fully animated, so came in Pixie and Dixie the much cheaper Limited animation is used ( as with all other TV series by Hanna -Barbera as well). - On the other hand Pixie, Dixie and Jinks were provided in American as in the German version with original voice-overs, while Tom and Jerry did not speak in the cinema.

The Adventures of Pixie and Dixie also appeared in the comic series of the New Tessloff publisher under the titles Huckleberry Hound and his friends, The Flintstones and The Jetsons. Jinks Kater was called there, however, Anton.
