Piz Lischana

Ridge to the summit of Piz Lischana head from the southeast in July 2010

The Piz Lischana ( 3'105 m above sea level. M. ) is a relatively easy to ersteigender for his height peak in the Lower Engadine Dolomites. The easiest route is from San Jon ( 1420 m, reachable from Scuol, on the opposite side of the Inn) about the Lischanahütte ( Vallader: Chamonna Lischana, 2'500 m asl. ), But sure-footed at the summit climb requirement.

On 31 July 2011, a rock fall at Piz Lischana, in which 2,000 cubic meters of rock broke off the eastern side of the summit tower occurred. There are more rockfalls feared, so the peak area is closed until further notice.

Until the 20th century the Lischanagletscher covered the 4 square-kilometer plateau between the Piz Lischana and the Lai da Rims ( Rims German - lakes). The former plateau glacier has disappeared except for two relics, the small glacier Vadret because Triazza below the summit and still referred to as Vadret Lischana relic above the Lischanahütte.
