Piz Plavna Dadaint

The Piz Plavna Dadaint ( pitsplafnada'daint Romansh in the idiom Vallader, pronunciation, literally Rear Plavnaspitze, older spelling Piz Plafna daint da) is 3'167 m above sea level. M. one of the highest mountains on the right side of the Lower Engadine. The summit lies on the border between the municipalities and Ardez Scuol and is the highest point of the municipality Ardez. The Piz Plavna Dadaint frames together with the Piz Plavna Dadora ( 2,981 m above sea level. M., literally Front Plavnaspitze ) the one leading to the Inn Val Plavna (formerly also Plafna Valley ).

Appearance

The Piz Plavna Dadaint stands out with its distinctive pyramid shape. Particularly common are photographs from the viewpoint of easily accessible Sur il Foss, the pass crossing between Val and Val Plavna Mingèr on the border of the Swiss National Park. Ascent

Despite its striking appearance of the Piz Plavna Dadaint is relatively rarely climbed.

The normal route of ascent in high summer through the Val Plavna from the town of Fontana in Scuol. Above the Alp Plavna the route through the talus field Pedrus to the southwest, from where the route is partially marked with arrows. The ground is steep and brittle over the entire route, rockfall is expected. The difficulty level is T6 / III. The relative long total time of 12 hours is of particular significance.

The normal route for ski runs eastwards from Zernez forth across the Alp Laschadura and the transition Fuorcia Laschadurella, the basin of Gravas on the western slope ( crampons ) also to the southwest. An alternative ski route to the south-west ridge is from the Alp Plavna over the cauldron of Piz Foraz and the southern flank of Piz Plavna Dadaint.
