The Cir ( Ladin: Pizes de Cir, Italian: Gruppo del Cir, in the older German literature one can also find the spelling Tschierspitzen ) are a mountain range north of the Gardena yoke in South Tyrol, Italy. It is assigned to the thePuez in the Dolomites. The Large and Small Cirspitze are committing to hiking or climbing routes, the peaks of the other Cir can only be achieved through alpine climbing.

Large Cirspitze

The Great Cirspitze ( Italian: Gran Cir ) is with 2592 meters, the highest elevation of the mountain group. They can be seen in the picture in the middle. The summit of the Great Cir has probably been climbed earlier by Ladin hunters. The first tourist ascent was made on August 7, 1887 by Johann Gottfried Merzbacher Santner and from the west side (I ( UIAA scale) ). The Great Cir is to reach, over the normal route without climbing experience and without much difficulty. The path leads first along a gravel field, then along a wall and high up to the summit. In some places, this increase is secured with a wire rope.

Small Cirspitze

The summit of the Little Cirspitze ( Italian: Piccola Cir ) has a height of 2,520 meters. It lies east of the Great Cir near the mountain station of the cable car Dantercepies. The Small Cirspitze can be achieved through a well-developed, moderately difficult via ferrata (B / C). The path leads secured from the eastern side to the summit and then unsecured on the western side by a gravel field down again.

Environment

About the Cirjoch you get into the Chedultal, also Chedul Valley (pronounced Kedul ), which is located north of the mountain group. From Passo Gardena can be reached via the Cir different ways, below the peaks located at 2220 meters altitude, the Jimmy cabin.
