Plan B (musician)

Plan B ( born October 22, 1983 in London; civil Benjamin Paul Drew ) is a British hip-hop, soul musician and actor. He received international attention in 2010 with the song She Said, who was also placed high in various charts.

Biography

Childhood and youth

Drew grew up in London's Forest Gate. His father Paul Ballance played in a local punk rock band, the mother worked for a local authority. When Ben was six years old, his father left the family. The young Ben Drew often felt as a social outcast because his family neither the means nor the working class belonged.

At age 14 Drew began to teach himself guitar playing. Shortly afterwards he wrote his first own R & B songs, but turned 18 years old hip- hop and rap. His first single, inspired by the death of ten -year-old Damilola Taylor Kidz / Dead and Buried, earned him the necessary attention in order to complete a recording contract can.

2006-2007: Who Needs Actions When You Got Words

Drew's first mixtape, It's Time 4 Plan B, was published in May 2006 in Hip Hop Connection magazine. This was followed by a first television appearance plan B's in the show Later ..., in which he played an acoustic version of the song " Mama ( Loves a Crackhead ) ". That same year brought Plan B released his debut album Who Needs Actions When You Got Words out, which went straight to number 30 of the UK album charts. The album received consistently positive reviews, including The Guardian gave him all five possible stars. With End Credits, a collaboration with Chase & Status, he placed his first Top 10 hit in the UK.

2008-2011: Breakthrough and The Defamation of Strickland Banks

Four years later, he reached with his album The Defamation of Strickland Banks, the number 1 in the UK. Mid-2010, Drew finally international breakthrough with the single release She Said, which was also a success in the German-speaking countries.

The BRIT Awards 2011 Plan B was awarded as British male solo artist.
