Plasmodesma

A Plasmodesmos (also Plasmodesma ) is a thin, surrounded by a plasma membrane plasma strand to the neighbor cell provides the cell wall of a plant cell through a connection. Thanks to such plasmodesmata can be operated thus on the cell boundary mass transfer. A Plasmodesmos is a central strand of permeated ( Desmotubulus ). This is a local modification of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) which contacts to two adjacent cells with cisternae of the ER.

The singular forms Plasmodesmos and Plasmodesma are used interchangeably in Germans and are derived from the Greek Plasmo - = the structure / the Molded and Desmos (or neulateinisch - DESMA ) = the tape. Often referred to as one of the singular forms are in the life sciences but the plural forms of plasmodesmata / plasmodesmata.
