Pleasant Hill is a city in Contra Costa County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 34,200 inhabitants ( 2004). The city was founded in 1961.

Geography

The metropolitan area has a size of 18.4 km ² and has a diverse landscape.

In Pleasant Hill has a Mediterranean climate, summers are warm and dry while it's cold and damp in winter. In winter it is warm below 10 degrees Celsius in summer temperatures vary between 20 ° and partly above 30 degrees Celsius. In extreme heat waves, it can rarely even get hot at 40 degrees Celsius in some places. Also rare is frost in winter. Rarely is there summer fog; but in the winter it is often foggy.

History

The first post office opened in 1947, but the city was not founded until 1961.
