Pleosporales
Konidienkette of Alternaria fungus
The Pleosporales are an order of Ascomycota that form an own subclass Pleosporomycetidae.
Features
The fruiting body is a perithecium Hysterothecium or Kleistothecium. The shape is very variable. The sterile part ( Hamathecium ) consists of paraphyses. The asci have a two-layered cell wall ( bitunicat ). The ascospores are in terms of color, shape and septation highly variable.
System
The Pleosporales are the most species-rich order in the class of Dothideomycetes.
Eriksson (2006) leads 13 families in the order. A work from 2009 still describes the Didymellaceae than 14 family of the order:
- Delitschiaceae 3 genres
- Didymellaceae a genre
- Lophiostomataceae with 12 genera, for example, Herpotrichia
- Phaeosphaeria
- Leptosphaeria
- Silver scurf ( Helminthosporium solani )
- Cochliobolus
- Lewia, anamorph Alternaria
- Apple scab (Venturia inaequalis)
Importance
The order contains some important economic plant pathogens: Cochliobolus heterostrophus causes the bleaching of corn, Leptosphaeria maculans infects canola seeds, Phaeosphaeria nodorum infects cereal.
