Pleximeter

The plessimeter (or Pleximeter ) is employed in medicine for diagnostic aids.

It consists of a thin, spatula-shaped plate which is pressed firmly onto the body section to be tested and is tapped with a percussion hammer. The advantage consists on the one hand that the fingers of the examiner are spared and the knocking sound thus produced is significantly louder than the direct percussion. While in the past still used silver and ivory, it is mainly made of plastic, the better version is made of surgical steel.

A larger version of the Plessimeters is also commonly used in veterinary medicine.
