Ploërdut

Ploërdut ( Breton: Pleurdud ) is a commune with 1216 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association Pays du Roi Morvan.

Geography

Ploërdut is in the northwest of the department of Morbihan on the border with the department of Cotes -d'Armor and belongs to the Pays du Roi Morvan.

Neighboring communities are located in the department of Côtes- d'Armor community Mellionnec in the north, Langoëlan in the northeast and east, and Locmalo Guémené -sur -Scorff in the southeast, Lignol in the south, Saint- Caradec - Trégomel in the southwest and Le Croisty, Saint- Tugdual and Plouray in the West.

The village itself is located away from major thoroughfares. Two kilometers north of Ploërdut the D1 from Plouray after Guémené -sur -Scorff runs through the community. The important national road N125 connection leads about twenty kilometers north past the church.

The most important waters are the rivers and the streams AER and Scorff Le Cosquer, Le Gohello, Kerfandol, Fallo Toul, Pont de Saint- Martin, and Kerustang. Partial form these simultaneously, the municipal boundary. In the municipality there are also several more ponds. The municipal area there are numerous large wood pieces. The four highest are Bois de Lochrist, Bois de Kerservant, Bois de Quénépozen and Bois du Launay.

Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Bourlet (French Pays Pourlet ) and shares his story. Ploërdut was from 1793 until its dissolution in 1801 capital of the canton Ploërdut. Since then, the municipality in the canton of Guémené -sur -Scorff.
