Plötzky is a district of Nice (Elbe ) in a salt land district, in Saxony -Anhalt.

Geography

The location southeast of Magdeburg area of the village Plötzky extends from the river Elbe in the south of the Old Elbe to the edge of the city Gommern in the north. Near Plötzky branches of the Elbe Umflutkanal from the Old Elbe. The flat terrain is rich with forests and lakes. Here recreation areas located around several lakes, such as its König, the Kolumbussee, the Giselasee and the Lake Eder weekend house settlements and camping areas. The district Plötzky bordered to the north to the state capital Magdeburg, and to the county Jerichower country.

History

Around the period 650 to 900 Plötzky could have arisen as a Slavic settlement. In the 11th and 12th centuries was a Christian colonization of territories east of the Elbe. In the 12th century started in place of the degradation of quartzite. Around 1170, the Santa Maria and Magdalena Church was built. The foundation of the Cistercian monastery run by St. Mary - on - the - mountain George was about 1210.

In 1228 Plötzky was first mentioned. The name could be derived from the Slavic plot (Polish: płot = fence, Russian: плот = raft ). Around 1400, the establishment of the first Roland took place Plötzky had city status. During the Reformation, the monastery was dissolved in 1538, most of the buildings of the monastery were demolished in 1578. With the establishment of the Office Gommern Plötzky then lost its status as a city.

Between 1567 and 1874 the old ferry was south of the village in operating a ferry across the Elbe, in its place there is now a guest house.

For the year 1645 Plötzky is due out by the consequences of the Thirty Years' War as a deserted village.

In 1876 a wooden bridge was built on the site of the old ferry. Already 1871-1875 had arisen in the neighboring Pretzien the Pretziener military and south of the Elbe Plötzky Umflutkanal. The area defining the quartzite mining was stopped in 1963.

In 1992, the administrative community Beautiful Beck was founded, was one of the Plötzky. In 2004 a new bridge was built on the old ferry. 2005 Plötzky got a Roland again. On 1 January 2009, the city was incorporated into Beautiful Beck.
