Pneumoconiosis

The pneumoconiosis (formerly Pneumonokoniose, from Greek πνεύμων Pneumon " lung", κόνις Konis " dust " and -ose ) or pneumoconiosis caused by inhalation of dust under the disposal of solid inorganic or - more rarely - organic particles in bronchi, lymph nodes and / or parenchyma, the cause changes in the lung. This may be associated with and without malfunction.

Type, quantity, size and fibroblastic irritant effect of the dust particles affect symptoms and course of the disease as well as the duration of exposure and the individual resistance.

The pneumoconioses are judged according to the ILO classification. They are counted in most states as a compensable occupational diseases.

Silicosis is currently the most common pneumoconiosis. She is being treated in the evaluation, classification and compensation as an occupational disease the same so that they in some states - were brought together under the generic term " silicosis " - according to the Committee for Health Protection of the European Commission.
